Dengue: 9 dead, 2,288 hospitalised in 24 hours

At least 9 dengue patients died while 2,288 others were hospitalised in 24 hours till 8 am today (August 17), said the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

In the 24 hours, 899 dengue patients were admitted in Dhaka while 1,389 dengue patients were admitted outside the capital, said the DGHS release.

Besides, this year a total 444 died from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Bangladesh till today.

According to DGHS, this year till today 3,804 patients are undergoing treatment in different hospitals in Dhaka while 4,857 other patients are being treated in hospitals outside Dhaka.

A total of 94,312 were infected by the Dengue virus this year. Of them, 46,129 were in Dhaka and 48,183 were outside of the capital, according to the DGHS press release.

As many as 85,207 Dengue patients recovered this year. Of them, 46,129 were released from hospitals in Dhaka while 48,183 others left hospitals outside the capital. 

Last year, a total of 281 died from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Bangladesh. However, 28,429 patients were admitted to different hospitals with dengue while 28,265 patients recovered in last year.
