Dengue: 10 dead, 2,134 hospitalised in 24 hours

At least 10 dengue patients died while 2,134 others were hospitalised in 24 hours till 8 am today (August 20), said the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

In the 24 hours, 785 dengue patients were admitted in Dhaka while 1,349 dengue patients were admitted outside the capital, said the DGHS release.

Besides, this year a total 476 died from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Bangladesh till today.

According to DGHS, this year till today 3,532 patients are undergoing treatment in different hospitals in Dhaka while 4,050 other patients are being treated in hospitals outside Dhaka.

A total of 99,994 were infected by the Dengue virus this year. Of them, 48,456 were in Dhaka and 51,538 were outside of the capital, according to the DGHS press release.

As many as 91,936 Dengue patients recovered this year. Of them, 44,567 were released from hospitals in Dhaka while 47,369 others left hospitals outside the capital. 

Last year, a total of 281 died from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Bangladesh. However, 28,429 patients were admitted to different hospitals with dengue while 28,265 patients recovered in last year.
