Dengue: 7 dead, 2,367 hospitalised in 24 hours

At least seven dengue patients died while 2,367 others were hospitalised in 24 hours till 8 am today (August 30), said the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

In the 24 hours, 899 dengue patients were admitted in Dhaka while 1,468 dengue patients were admitted outside the capital, said the DGHS release.

Besides, this year a total 576 died from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Bangladesh till today.

According to DGHS, this year till today 3,908 patients are undergoing treatment in different hospitals in Dhaka while 4,538 other patients are being treated in hospitals outside Dhaka.

A total of 1, 21,500 were infected by the Dengue virus this year. Of them, 57,146 were in Dhaka and 64,354 were outside of the capital, according to the DGHS press release.

As many as 1, 12,478 Dengue patients recovered this year. Of them, 52,816 were released from hospitals in Dhaka while 59,662 others left hospitals outside the capital. 

Last year, a total of 281 died from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Bangladesh. However, 28,429 patients were admitted to different hospitals with dengue while 28,265 patients recovered in last year.
