Dengue: 15 dead, 1,876 hospitalised in 24 hours

At least 15 dengue patients died while 1,876 others were hospitalised in 24 hours till 8 am today (September 8), said the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

In the 24 hours, 842 dengue patients were admitted in Dhaka while 1,034 dengue patients were admitted outside the capital, said the DGHS release.

Besides, this year a total 706 died from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Bangladesh till today.

According to DGHS, this year till today 4,265 patients are undergoing treatment in different hospitals in Dhaka while 5,465 other patients are being treated in hospitals outside Dhaka.

A total of 1, 42,587 were infected by the Dengue virus this year. Of them, 65,014 were in Dhaka and 77,573 were outside of the capital, according to the DGHS press release.

As many as 1, 32,151 Dengue patients recovered this year. Of them, 60,241 were released from hospitals in Dhaka while 71,910 others left hospitals outside the capital. 

Last year, a total of 281 died from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Bangladesh. However, 28,429 patients were admitted to different hospitals with dengue while 28,265 patients recovered in last year.
