Dengue: 15 dead, 2,944 hospitalised in 24 hours

At least 15 dengue patients died while 2,944 others were hospitalised in 24 hours till 8 am today (September 13), said the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

In the 24 hours, 823 dengue patients were admitted in Dhaka while 2,121 dengue patients were admitted outside the capital, said the DGHS release.

Besides, this year a total 767 died from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Bangladesh till today.

According to DGHS, this year till today 4,137 patients are undergoing treatment in different hospitals in Dhaka while 5,851 other patients are being treated in hospitals outside Dhaka.

A total of 1, 57,172 were infected by the Dengue virus this year. Of them, 69,760 were in Dhaka and 87,412 were outside of the capital, according to the DGHS press release.

As many as 1, 46,417 Dengue patients recovered this year. Of them, 65,086 were released from hospitals in Dhaka while 81,331 others left hospitals outside the capital. 

Last year, a total of 281 died from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Bangladesh. However, 28,429 patients were admitted to different hospitals with dengue while 28,265 patients recovered in last year.
