Dengue: 7 dead, 3,027 hospitalised in 24 hours

At least seven dengue patients died while 3,027 others were hospitalised in 24 hours till 8 am today (September 19), said the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

In the 24 hours, 849 dengue patients were admitted in Dhaka while 2,178 dengue patients were admitted outside the capital, said the DGHS release.

Besides, this year a total 846 died from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Bangladesh till today.

According to DGHS, this year till today 3,814 patients are undergoing treatment in different hospitals in Dhaka while 6,288 other patients are being treated in hospitals outside Dhaka.

A total of 1, 73,795 were infected by the Dengue virus this year. Of them, 74,976 were in Dhaka and 98,819 were outside of the capital, according to the DGHS press release.

As many as 1, 62,847 Dengue patients recovered this year. Of them, 70,584 were released from hospitals in Dhaka while 92,263 others left hospitals outside the capital. 

Last year, a total of 281 died from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Bangladesh. However, 28,429 patients were admitted to different hospitals with dengue while 28,265 patients recovered in last year.
