Dengue: 8 dead, 2,889 hospitalised in 24 hours

At least 8 dengue patients died while 2,889 others were hospitalised in 24 hours till 8 am today (September 21), said the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

In the 24 hours, 789 dengue patients were admitted in Dhaka while 2,100 dengue patients were admitted outside the capital, said the DGHS release.

Besides, this year a total 875 died from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Bangladesh till today.

According to DGHS, this year till today 3,696 patients are undergoing treatment in different hospitals in Dhaka while 6,584 other patients are being treated in hospitals outside Dhaka.

A total of 1, 79,699 were infected by the Dengue virus this year. Of them, 76,622 were in Dhaka and 1, 03,077 were outside of the capital, according to the DGHS press release.

As many as 1, 68,544 Dengue patients recovered this year. Of them, 72,337 were released from hospitals in Dhaka while 92,206 others left hospitals outside the capital. 

Last year, a total of 281 died from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Bangladesh. However, 28,429 patients were admitted to different hospitals with dengue while 28,265 patients recovered in last year.
