In the past 24 hours, four people have died from dengue, and 803 others were admitted to hospitals across Bangladesh, the Health Emergency Operation Centre and Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said on Thursday (October 23).
The release detailed hospital admissions by region: Barishal division (outside city corporation) – 112; Chattogram division – 97; Dhaka division – 147; Dhaka North City Corporation – 155; Dhaka South City Corporation – 130; Khulna division – 49; Mymensingh division – 49; Rajshahi division – 37; Rangpur division – 17; and Sylhet division – 10.
In the same period, 771 dengue patients were discharged from hospitals. This year, a total of 60,263 patients have been discharged so far.
Since January 1, 2025, a total of 63,170 people have been infected with dengue, with 61.6% male and 38.4% female patients. The total death toll from dengue this year has reached 259.
For comparison, in 2024, a total of 101,214 dengue cases were recorded, with 575 deaths, while in 2023, dengue claimed 1,705 lives and hospitalised 321,179 patients nationwide.
