Take measures for Ebola treatment: HC

DHAKA: The High Court on Wednesday asked the authorities concerned to take special arrangements and collect necessary medicines for Ebola treatment at several hospitals across the country.

An HC bench comprising Justice Mirza Hossain Haidar and Justice M Ataur Rahman handed down the order in response to a writ petition filed by Supreme Court lawyer Advocate Monjil Morshed.

The court also issued a rule upon the government to explain within six weeks why orders should not be given to run check-up the foreign-returned Bangladeshis whether they bear Ebola virus and for taking necessary arrangements for Ebola treatment.

Secretaries of Home Affairs Ministry and Health Ministry, Civil Aviation Authority chairman and its director (administration), director generals (DG) of Director General of Health Services (DGHS)  and Director General, Department of Immigration & Passports were made respondent to the rule.

Monjil said the court asked to run check-up on the six Africa-returned people whether they are somehow attacked by Ebola virus and submit the report within two weeks.

The court also ordered to collect necessary medicines and medical equipments immediately and asked the Finance Ministry to allocate the sufficient money in this regard.
