DHAKA: Ministry of Health & Family Welfare suspended Abzal Hossain, accountant of the Medical Education Department of the Director General of Health Services (DGHS) over his alleged accumulation of huge illegal wealth.

A letter carrying the order signed by the ministry’s Deputy Secretary Shahina Khatun was sent to the DGHS on Sunday (Jan 13). 

The letter cited media reports to state that DGHS Accounts officer Abzal Hossain’s wealth amount is inconsistent with his known income.  

On Jan 11, Bangla dailies Bangladesh Pratidin and Prothom Alo published reports describing how Abzol amassed huge properties with limited income.
