DHAKA:  Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) directed the authorities of all private hospitals, clinics and diagnostic centres in Dhaka to increase the number of doctors, nurses and the staff in proportion to the number of dengue patients.

DGHS also asked them to charge TK 500 only for all the necessary tests of dengue fever, but the all the tests of dengue fever in public hospitals were made free.

The directive to reduce fee of all the tests of dengue fever will come into effect from Sunday and will remain effective until further notice is given.

Director General (DG) of DGHS Prof. Dr. Abul Kalam Azad told Banglanews that directorate took this decision on Sunday (July 28) to fight off the outbreak of dengue fever.

DGHS authorities held a meeting with the directors and managing directors of private hospitals, clinics, diagnostic centres of the country. 

Four directives taken at the meeting are as follows:

1: Charging Tk 500 only for Dengue NS1 antigen, Complete Blood Count (CBC) and Immunoglobulin M (IgM) + Immunoglobulin E (IgE) tests each,

2: All the private hospitals, clinics, diagnostic centres will open one-stop service centres,

3: Increasing the number of beds and

4: Increasing the manpower including doctors, nurses in the hospitals, clinics, diagnostic centres.
