Cocktails hurled at train: hurt 25

BOGRA: At least 25 people were injured as hartal supporters threw cocktails and brick-chips at a mail train at Bogra railway station on Tuesday morning, the second day of 18-party’s 60-hour hartal.

The incident took place at around 8:15am when the Lalmonirhat-bound Padmarag mail train was stationed there for getting in and out of passengers.

Railway police Bogra sadar outpost In-charge Sub-Inspector Bimol Kumar told banglanews, “From a pro-hartal procession, pickets hurled four to five cocktails and brick-chips at the train, leaving 25 passengers injured.”

Police lobbed 40 round of rubber bullets and two rounds of tear shells to bring the situation under control by dispersing hartal supporters.

Confirming the matter, Sadar police station Officer-in-Charge Syed Saheed Alam told banglanews that after the cocktail explosion, panic prevailing the area. Additional police have been deployed to keep calm the situation.
