Bangladesh’s Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus left Dhaka for Rome to attend the flagship World Food Forum (WFF), according to a government notification issued on Sunday (October 12).
A Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight carrying the chief adviser and his delegation departed Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at around 11:30 am, Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam told state media.
Under the tour schedule, Professor Yunus is due to address the forum’s main session and hold talks with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni as well as leaders of international organisations. Discussions are expected to focus on food security, poverty reduction and sustainable development.
The WFF—hosted by the UN’s Food and Agriculture Organization—is taking place at FAO headquarters in Rome from October 10 to 17. Policymakers, researchers and entrepreneurs gather at the annual event to debate the future of agrifood systems.
Professor Yunus is scheduled to return home on October 15.
