MADINA (SAUDI ARABIA): Some 20 Bangladeshis were arrested, in a drive by Saudi law enforcing agency, from Dallah Company in Medina for not having Iqama (work permit).
Besides, many workers are staying in the camps to avoid arrest.
Sources said law enforcers arrested 20 Bangladeshi cleaners when they joined in their work on Wednesday.
Currently, more than 2000 Bangladeshi workers have been working at Dallah Company.
Workers alleged that the Bangladeshi consulate does not help them whenever they fall problem getting salary, allowance and Iqama.
They also said the company would be forced to provide with all kinds of facilities if the consulate takes steps.
Due to problems in the network, talking with the consul general Mohammad Najmul Islam was not possible.
On the other hand, so far, Hilton Hotel authority has failed to free five Bangladeshi workers who were arrested on the first day of the drive.
Consul (Labour) Mokammel Hossain of Jeddah Consulate denied the arrest of any Bangladeshi and said, “We went to the Jeddah Deportation Centre (Tarheel) to look for Bangladeshis but there was none.”
He also said, “We are still issuing Out Pass (special travel document) for those who are willing to go back to the country.
