The Election Commission (EC) has made a major reshuffle in its administration ahead of the upcoming 13th National Parliamentary Election.
A total of 71 officials have been transferred under an order issued on Monday (July 28) by the EC Secretariat.
Assistant Secretary Md Shahidur Rahman, signed the directive on behalf of the President, outlining the transferred officials must be released from their current posts by August 3.
If not formally released within the stipulated time, they will be considered automatically released from August 4, according to the order.
Most of the officials affected by the reshuffle serve as election officers at the upazila and thana levels.
In a related move, Md Mosharraf Hossain, Assistant Director at the Election Training Institute (ETI), has been promoted and appointed as Assistant Secretary at the EC Secretariat.
Additionally, Syeda Sadika Sultana, Election Officer of Cumilla Adarsha Sadar Upazila, has been appointed as Assistant Director at the Election Training Institute.
The EC's administrative changes come as part of preparations to ensure smooth conduct of the upcoming national polls.
