Faridpur medical interns go on strike

FARIDPUR: The intern doctors of Faridpur Medical College Hospital on Sunday went on strike to protest the attack on an intern doctor by relatives of a patient.

Sources said the agitating interns doctors brought out protest procession around 12:00 noon demanding set up a police outpost in the hospital to ensure security of doctors of the hospital.

The victim Farid Uddin Ahmed said four to five relatives of a patient assaulted him as he protested parking a motorbike inside the emergency department.

Following the incident, intern doctors on Saturday gave 24-hour ultimatum to arrest the attackers. Later, doctors went on strike from Sunday noon as the authority takes no effective steps.

Hospital caretaker Dr ABM Shamsul Alam told banglanews: “We are trying to settle the matter sincerely.”
