MIRSARAI, CHITTAGONG: An on-duty police officer was killed in a road accident on Dhaka-Chittagong highway in front of Chalaman feeling station under Mirsarai upazila of the district early Wednesday.

The deceased was identified as Abul Hasen, a Sub-Inspector of Jorarganj police station.

Sources said that a Dhaka-bound speedy vehicle hit a parked patrol jeep of police as the driver lost control over the steering at around 12:30am, leaving the police officer injured critically.

Later, he was rushed to Chittagong Medical College Hospital where he succumbed to injuries at around 2:00am.

Jorarganj police station Sub-Inspector Nazmul Hossain confirmed the matter to banglanews.
