Diganta TV correspondent, Jamaat leaders arrested in Satkhira

SATKHIRA: Police arrested two local Jamaat leaders and a district correspondent of Diganta TV in the district Thursday late night as part of the countrywide drive against the party.

The arrestees are Kamrul Islam, 38, Nurul Islam, 55 and Jillur Rahman, an active man of Islami Chatra Shibir, a student wing of Jamaat`e`Islami, from the old town in the district, police said.

Sadar thana OC Sahjahan Ali Khan said that at midnight the three were arrested from the district Jamaat office during a raid.

The arrest was made on the charge of conspiracy against the government, he added.

Some 23 Shibir cadres including the three have been arrested on Wednesday and  Thursday late night in the district, he added.

“A sedition case may be filed against all the arrestees”.
