3 burnt in oil tanker fire at Ctg port

CHITTAGONG: Three people were burnt as fire broke out at an oil tanker of state-owned oil company Jamuna Oil at the Chittagong port on Tuesday morning.

Deputy Assistant Director of Chittagong Fire Service Jasim Uddin said that the fire originated from a gas cylinder leakage at the kitchen at around 8:45am.

On information, two fire fighting units and Bangladesh Navy rushed to the spot and doused the fire at around 10:15am.

Three workers of the cargo ship sustained burn injuries and the engine room and a cabin were damaged in the fire incident but five lakhs liter oil contained by the tanker remained safe.

The injured were recovered by police and sent to hospital.

Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (port) Mostak Ahmed confirmed the matter to banglanews.
