DHAKA: Ruling Awami League and main opposition BNP have sat on a meeting on Wednesday in a bid to find a pathway to ease ongoing political deadlock in the country.
The meeting started at around 12:00pm at UNDP’s Gulshan office with the presence of Oscar Fernandez-Taranco, Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nations.
Sources said Awami League General Secretary Syed Ashaful Islam is lead party delegation and BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir leads his party delegation in the meeting.
Meanwhile it is the 2nd phase of meeting initiatives by visiting Taranco, also special ambassador of UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon for Political Affairs.
