DHAKA: The last day of the week-long road-railways-waterways blockade, called by BNP-led 18-party alliance, is underway on Thursday amid stray incidents of vandalism, arson and cocktail explosion.
Shibir men hurled five cocktails at police in city’s Doyaganj area at around 8:15am.
The demonstrators brought out a brisk procession and vandalized two buses and set fire on roads by pouring petrol.
On information, police rushed to the spot and dispersed them by firing rubber bullets.
Blockaders torched a parked long-route bus of Shah Sultan Poribahan in Buddhist Temple area in city’s Sabujbagh at around 6:30am.
They also exploded three cocktails during the time.
In Laxmipur, at least five leaders-activists of BNP sustained bullet injuries in a clash with police in the district town at around 7:15am.
Later, district unit BNP called dawn-to-dusk hartal in the district for Saturday in protest against the incident.
