Germany’s ambassador to Bangladesh, Rüdiger Lotz, has praised the Election Commission’s preparations for the next national polls, calling its work “commendable.”
He spoke after a courtesy meeting with Chief Election Commissioner AMM Nasir Uddin at the commission’s Agargaon headquarters on Thursday (October 23).
Speaking to reporters following the meeting, Ambassador Lotz said Bangladesh will stage “one of the world’s largest democratic elections” next year, with more than 127 million registered voters expected to exercise their franchise.
He added that the vote is significant not only for Bangladesh but also for regional and global democracy, and he commended the commission for preparing to manage such a large undertaking.
Asked whether the 13th Jatiya Sangsad election would be inclusive, the envoy replied that Bangladesh needs a credible and acceptable election in which multiple political parties can participate.
