The Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) submitted a supplementary charge sheet against 9 people including Bangladesh Chhatra League leaders, for attacking on the motorcade of former US ambassador Marcia Bernicat at Mohammadpur in Dhaka.

Mohammad Ishtiaq Mahmud, the brother-in-law of Shushashoner Jonno Nagorik (SHUJAN) Secretary Badiul Alam Majumdar and Naimul Hasan alias Russell, president of Mohammadpur Thana Chhatra League, have been accused in the charge sheet. 

Besides, many of the other accused in the charge sheet are also Awami League and Chhatra League leaders and activists. 

A group of miscreants attacked the car of Bernicat who was about to leave the residence of civil society advocacy group SHUJAN secretary Badiul Alam Majumder aafter attending a courtesy dinner thrown in her honour at Iqbal Road in the capital’s Mohammadpur on August 4, 2018.

Badiul’s house was also attacked at night after which Badiul Alam Majumder lodged a case with Mohammadpur police station in this connection.

Bernicat served as the US Ambassador to Dhaka from 2015 to 2018.
