Bangladeshis can perform ‘Umrah’ without visa: Saudi envoy

Saudi Ambassador in Dhaka Essa Youssef Essa Al Duhailan on Tuesday (Oct 3) said Bangladeshi citizens can perform Umrah in Saudi Arabia without applying for visa.

However, in this case he said pilgrim has to be a transit passenger of Saudia Airlines.

Saudi Ambassador said while speaking at a press briefing on the launching of the Saudi Volunteer Program (EBSAR) in Dhaka today.

King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre’s (KSRELIEF) Assistant Supervisor General for Planning and Development Dr Aqeel Al Ghamdi launched the program in presence of the ambassador.

Saudi Ambassador said Bangladeshi citizens can perform Umrah in Saudi Arabia without visa. But in this case they have to be transit passengers of Saudia Airlines or national owned aircraft of that country. 

Transit passengers can stay in Saudi Arabia for 96 hours to perform Umrah, he added.

Umrah can be performed in Saudi Arabia even if anyone has US, UK and Schengen visa. Besides, anyone can get Umrah visa by registering on Nusuk app without the help of any agency, Ambassador also said.

Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammad bin Salman will visit Bangladesh next year. If he visits, it will be a historic event, the Saudi ambassador added.
