Chairman of Grameen Telecom and Nobel Laureate Dr Mohammad Yunus arrived at the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) this morning (October 5) following a summon notice issued on September 27.
Accompanied by his legal team, which included Barrister Khawaja Tanveer Ahmed and Barrister Abdullah Al Mamun, Dr Yunus was seen at the ACC headquarters in the capital.
Barrister Abdullah Al Mamun, Dr Yunus' lawyer, told the journalists: "Dr Yunus holds a deep respect for the law and, upon receiving the summon notice from the ACC, promptly returned from the United States to respond."
The ACC had summoned Dr Mohammad Yunus, along with several others, on October 5, regarding their alleged involvement in the misappropriation of more than Tk25 crore from the Workers Profit Participation Fund (WPPF) of Grameen Telecom.
On May 30, ACC Deputy Director Gulshan filed a case accusing Prof Yunus and 12 others of embezzling Tk25.22 crore meant for the workers and employees of Grameen Telecom.
