At least 10 passengers were injured after a bus caught fire on Dhaka-Sylhet Highway in Narayanganj's Rupganj upazila on Sunday (October 8) afternoon.

The fire originated in the bus of "Sohag Paribahan" due to a technical fault.

The incident happened around 12:00pm while the bus was heading toward Sylhet from Dhaka.

According to bus passengers the bus carrying more than 45 passengers left Dhaka. When it reached Karnagop area, suddenly it caught fire. At least 10 people were injured as panicked passengers rushed out of windows and doors.

In this regard, Deputy Inspector (SI) of Rupganj Police Station Abdul Karim confirming the matter said that the damaged bus has been recovered. The cause of the fire is not yet known.
