NEW YORK: Bangladesh Ambassador to USA Akramul Qader had meeting with US Senate’s Foreign Relation Committee member John McCain over five resolutions passed at US senate over the political reform of Bangladesh.
Embassy sources said that he has tried to highlight the efforts of Bangladesh government to bring opposition parties in the next general election which was scheduled to be held on January 5 next.
Beside, the Bangladesh envoy highlighted the constitutional obligation to ensure in holding a free and fair election to establish the rights of the country men.
In the meeting, Republican leader John McCain asked Ambassador Akramul about Bangladesh’s judicial system of and its independence.
The US envoy also queried about condition of garment industries and rights of its workers.
Meanwhile, political councilor Naimuddin Ahmed was present in the meeting, embassy sources confirmed.
