The audition round for the second season of “Quraner Noor”, a Koranic recitation contest, was held in Rajshahi on Tuesday.
A total of 11 contestants received ‘yes card’ to participate in the second round.
Over 500 hafizes from across Rajshahi division took part in the audition at Darul Ulum Madrasa in Malopara in the divisional town.
Baitul Mukarram National Mosque Musalli Committee is organising the event titled ‘Quraner Noor International Hifzul Quran Competition-2024’ which is powered by Bashundhara Group, the country’s leading business conglomerate.
At the beginning of the event, the contestants wore cards and badges and completed the registration process one by one. After having breakfast, they were divided into five categories for the audition round.
Rajshahi Division Audition Coordinator Iqbal Hossain Habibi said that six individuals adjudicated in the event. They are Saiful Islam, Mohammad Shafiullah, Yakub Ali, hafiz Zakaria Habibi, Maulana Abdus Sabur and Maulana Abu Sayed.
Besides, Baitul Mukarram National Mosque Senior Imam Mufti Ahsan Ul Haq Jilani was the chief coordinator for the entire event. The national-level champion of the competition will receive Tk10 lakh while the international champion will get Tk15 lakh.
The recorded programme will be aired on News24 and its YouTube channel from the first day of the holy month of Ramadan. Daily Sun, Kaler Kantho, Bangladesh Pratidin, Banglanews24.com and Radio Capital are the media partners of the competition.
