A total of 156 platoons of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and 422 teams of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) have been deployed across the country to maintain law and order on the first day of a two-day blockade called by BNP and its allies.
Shariful Islam, public relations officer (PRO) at BGB headquarters, and ANM Imran Khan, deputy director of the RAB's legal and media affairs, confirmed the deployment development on Wednesday (December 6) morning.
Apart from maintaining law and order, RAB is also escorting long-distance public transport and cargo transport to their destinations in different parts of the country.
The 10th spell of a 48-hour countrywide blockade called by the BNP and its allies, demanding the government’s resignation before the next general election started today (December 6).
The blockade will end at 6:00am on Friday.
The BNP and other like-minded parties also observed hartal in several times to mount pressure on the AL government to quit power and hold the next election under a non-partisan administration.
