DHAKA: Joint forces, in separate drives, nabbed at least 185 leaders and activists of BNP and Jamaat-e-Islami from six districts of the country between Friday midnight and early Saturday.
In Jessore, Law enforcers in nightlong drives held 62 BNP and Jamaat-Shibir men during fourth day of the on going joint forces drive in the district on Saturday.
Jessore Assistant Police Super (Sadar) Reshma Sharmin confirmed the matter to banglanews.
In Brahmanbaria, Apprehending subversive acts police held 16 BNP-Jamaat men from several spots of the district on Friday night.
The identity of the detainees could not be known immediately.
Brahmanbaria Additional Police Super Jahidul Islam confirmed the matter to banglanews.
In Joypurhat, Joint forces in nightlong drive held 14 BNP-Jamaat activists from five upazilas of the district between Friday midnight and early Saturday.
District Inspector of Police Special Branch (DIO)-1 Mahfuz Hossain told banglanews that the detainees were wanted in several cases.
In Gazipur, Apprehending subversive acts police held 13 suspected men from different spots of the district on Saturday.
Confirming the matter, Kaliganj Thana Officer-in-Charge Nazmul Haque Bhuiyan told banglanews, “Police is discharging their routine duties.”
In Chittagong, Police in a nightlong drive held 80 BNP-Jamaat men from various upazilas of the district on Friday.
Police sources said that apprehending subversive activities police held them and most of the detainees were BNP-Jamaat activist.
In Noakhali, police in nightlong drives nabbed 12 BNP and Jamaat-Shibir men from different area of the district for their alleged connection in recent violence.
