At least four members of a family were injured in an explosion at a five-story building in Idrakpur of Munshiganj district town today (December 9).

The victims include Rizvi Ahmed Russel, 42, his wife Rozina Begum, 35, their 3-year-old son Raian Ahmed, and Russel's mother Shahida Khatun, 65, all residents of the area.

Russel, a programme officer of One Stop Service at Munshiganj General Hospital is residing on the 4th floor of the building with his family as a tenant.

The explosion occurred around 5:30am that triggered fire, leaving four of the family injured, he added.

Later, they were taken to a local hospital where doctors referred three of them to the Sheikh Hasina Burn Institute.

Resident doctor of Sheikh Hasina National Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute Tariqul Islam said Shahida sustained severe injuries, with 90 percent burns.
