NARAYANGANJ: A worker was killed and six others sustained burn injuries as a gas cylinder exploded in Sonakanda area of the port Thana of the district on Sunday morning.

The deceased was identified as Mamun alias Babul while injured are Md Rahim, 25, Haider, 20, Shafiqul, 36, Shipon, 26, Sagaor, 17 and Rahim, 22.

Sonakanda Dockyard Supervisor Shamsul Haque said that a cylinder exploded at around 10:00am while the victims were working there, leaving seven workers critically injured.

Later, the burn victims were rushed to Dhaka Medical College (DMC) where Mamun succumbed to his injuries.

DMC Residential Surgeon Partha Sangkar Pal confirmed the matter to banglanews.

The condition of all victims but Sagor is critical.
