24-hr ban on vehicle movement

DHAKA: The government has imposed 24-hour restriction on vehicle movement across the country expect five districts from January 4 midnight during the 10th national election.

The disclosure came from a gazette notification issued by Communications Ministry.

As per the notification, Baby taxi, Auto rickshaw, Easy bike, Taxicab, Microbus, Jeep, Pickup, Car, Bus, Truck and Tempo will remain under the restriction.

The ban will effect from January 4 mid night to January 5 midnight in all district but Joypurhat, Rajbari, Madaripur, Shariatpur and Chandpur districts.

Beside, motorcycle movement will remain under the restriction from January 3 midnight to January 7 midnight. But the restriction would not be applied to the permitted Candidates or their election agents, local or foreign observers.

According to the motor vehicles act 1983, the gazette notification has been issued.

Domestic or foreign journalists, law enforcers, legal election observers, and ambulance, vehicles of fire service, electricity, gas, and telecommunications service will remain out of purview of the restriction.
