BRTA cancels edict on motorbike

DHAKA: Bangladesh Road-Transport Authority (BRTA) cancelled its proclaimed ban on pillion with motorcyclist on ride.

BRTA came out with the announcement Thursday afternoon.

However, on December 28, the authorities issued a special proclamation as no motorbike could carry extra passenger with motorbike rider.

BRTA issued the proclamation as per the section-88 of motor vehicle act-1983, in a bid to enhance security issues in recent violent activities.

Moreover, the ban was imposed to avert untoward situation as the pillions of motorcycles were allegedly involved in hurling bombs.
