SYLHET: A research team of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) is set to launch an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), commonly known as Drone, for the very first time in the country in April.
The research team has crafted the design. Now they have been giving connections to electronic devices.
Chief of the research team Syed Rezwanul Haque Nabil, also student of Masters in Physics, expressed his hope to fly the drone by April, 2014.
The team was working under the supervision of Professor Dr. Muhammad Zafar Iqbal, Head of the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering of the university.
The team leader Nabil said the drone can be used in guarding along the international border, law enforcers can use for the sake of their security and to avert any unwanted air attack, for monitoring weather etc.
It can be used to avert the sabotage on rail tracks, he added.
Drone is an aircraft without a human pilot on board. Its flight is controlled either autonomously by computers in the vehicle or under the remote control of a pilot on the ground or in another vehicle.
The typical launch and recovery method of an unmanned aircraft is by the function of an automatic system or an external operator on the ground.
There are a wide variety of UAV shapes, sizes, configurations, and characteristics. Historically, UAVs were simple remotely piloted aircraft, but autonomous control is increasingly being employed
