MUNSHIGANJ: A Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal activist drowned in a pond in Tongibari Upazila as police chased him when he tried to blast cocktail in a polling center early Sunday.

The deceased was identified as Kangkan Mia, 28, was joint secretary of Shimilia union.

President of Tongibari upazila Jubo Dal Shamim Molla confirmed the matter to banglanews.

Locals said that Kangkan went to Shimulia Primary School polling center to blast cocktails and petrol bombs. At that time, police chased him and he jumped into a adjacent pond and got drowned.

Confirming the matter, Officer-in-Charge of Tongbari Thana MA Malek PPM said his body was recovered from the pond on Sunday morning.
