2 Jamaat man killed in Nilphamari

NILPHAMARI: Two activists of Jamaat-e-Islami were shot dead in a clash with police two polling centers under Sadar and Jaldhaka upazilas of the district on Sunday.

The deceased were identified as Momtaz Uddin, 50, teacher of Kishoreganj upazila Borovita Dakhil Madrasa and Jahangir Alam, 35, a lecturer of Khalisha Sotokhata Fazil Madrasa.

Police said a clash erupted when Jamaat-Shibir men attacked Koimari Balapara Kanchari girls high school polling center under Jaldhak upazila at around 10:00am and attempted to snatch ballot paper and box, leaving one dead on the spot.

Earlier in the day, Jamaat activists went to loot voting equipments from Bepartali Alim Madrasa polling center under Sadar upazila at around 2:00am and police protested them which triggered a clash, leaving a man dead on the spot.

Dimla Thana Officer-in-Charge confirmed the matter to banglanews.
