Khandaker Mahbub held

DHAKA: Metropolitan Detective Branch of police held BNP chairperson’s adviser Khandaker Mahbub Hossain, also Bangladesh Bar Council vice-chairman, from city’s National Press Club (NPC) area on Tuesday afternoon.

Witnesses said a team of plain dressed DB police cordoned-off Mahbub in front of the gate Agrani Bank while he was emerging from the Press Club after attending a discussion organized by Sammilito Peshajibi Parishad, a pro-BNP organization.

Later, they picked up Mahbub around 2:15pm and took him to its headquarters.

Following his arrest, 10 or 15 activists of Sammilito Peshajibi Parishad staged protest programme in front of the NPC.

Law enforcers were on alert position in the area to avert untoward situation.
