CHITTAGONG: At least 21 people were injured as a passenger bus plunged into a roadside ditch on Dhaka-Chittagong highway in Mithachhara area under Mirsarai Upazila of the district on Sunday morning.

The accident took place at 4:30am.

Highway police sergeant of Zorarganj outpost Md Mehedi told banglanews, “A Chittagong-bound passenger bus after skidded off highway and fell into a roadside ditch as there was oil-like material on the road, leaving 21 people injured.”

Later, locals rushed to the spot and sent injured to Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH).

The condition of five injured is critical, hospital sources said.
