Remittance inflow from expatriates reached $675.1 million in the first nine days of August, averaging about $75 million per day, according to data released by Bangladesh Bank on Monday (August 11).
The daily average remittance stood at $75,013,333 during this period. In comparison, the same period in August last year saw a daily average of $74,138,333, while July recorded a higher daily average of $82,597,000.
Though remittance earnings in August have slightly decreased compared to July, they remain notably higher than the corresponding period last year.
Breaking down the inflows, state-owned commercial banks received $164.48 million, the state-owned Krishi Bank received $61.15 million, private commercial banks collected $443.07 million, and foreign commercial banks accounted for $6.42 million.
