The smooth operation of rail services between Dhaka to Khulna was disrupted as a freight train derailed in Rajbari on Thursday (May 2) morning.

The incident took place at 7:30 am in Railgate No. 2 area of the district.

Due to the derailment of the main line, the rail link between Rajbari-Dhaka, Rajbari-Daulatdia and Rajbari-Khulna routes is halted.

Rajbari Railway Station Master Tanmoy Kumar Dutta confirmed the matter.

He said the train came from Khulna derailed while entering the Carriage and Wagon Depot in Railgate No. 2 area of Rajbari this morning. 

All rail services are closed on this route temporarily, he said.

The rail master further expressed his hope that the derailed train would be rescued soon.
