A man and his son were killed after a bus hit their motorcycle in Bagerhat's Fakirhat upazila on Saturday (June 22) morning.

The accident happened around 8:30 am on the Bagerhat-Khulna highway.

The deceased were identified as Khalilur Rahman Rari, 35, son of Moslem Uddin of Garia area of Patuakhali and his one-year-old son. 

The injured Khalilur Rahman's wife Minu Begum, 30, was rescued and taken to Fakirhat Upazila Health Complex.

According to Fakirhat Fire Service Station leader Monirul Islam, Khalilur Rahman along with his wife and son, were heading towards his in-laws house in Jashore from Patuakhali by motorbike. When the vehicle reached Piljango area around 8:30am, a bus from the opposite side hit the motorbike, leaving Khalilur and his minor son dead on the scene and wife injured.

The bus and the bike were kept under police custody, said Katakhali Highway Police Station OC Mizanur Rahman.

But the bus driver and helper managed to flee, he added.
