Shahjahan Bhuiyan, the former chief hangman of Dhaka Central Jail, who executed death row convicts in much discussed cases, has died.
He died in Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College and Hospital in the capital on Monday (June 24) morning while undergoing treatment.
'Jollad' Shahjahan’s sister Firoza Begum confirmed the matter.
She said, “Shahjahan rushed to hospital immediately after he suddenly felt chest pain around 3 am.”
He died around 5 am while undergoing treatment in the hospital, she added.
Born on March 26, 1950, at Isakhali village of Palash Upazila of Narsingdi, Shahjahan Bhuiyan engaged in local politics when he had completed his higher secondary certificate exams.
