Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) today (June 25) predicted the ongoing mild heat wave is likely to continue at six places across the country in the next 24 hours commencing 9 am today.
"Mild heat wave is sweeping over Rajshahi and Khulna divisions and the districts of Tangail, Faridpur, Manikganj, Rangpur, Sayedpur and Patuakhali and it may continue," said the met office bulletin this morning.
"Day and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country. Due to excessive moisture, discomfort may persist," it added.
"Light to moderate rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at many places over Rangpur, Mymensingh, Sylhet and Chattogram divisions; at a few places over Rajshahi, Dhaka and Barisal divisions and at one or two places over Khulna division with moderately heavy to heavy falls at places over Rangpur, Mymensingh, Chattogram & Sylhet divisions," it added.
The country's maximum temperature on Monday was 38.7 degrees Celsius at Rajshahi, while today's minimum temperature was 24.1 degrees Celsius at Bandarban.
Rainfall for the last 24 hours commencing 6 am today was recorded 57mm at Sylhet.
