A pedestrian was killed in a road accident after being hit by a pickup van on the Dinajpur-Gobindaganj regional highway in Tatakpur Mor area under Birampur upazila of the district today (July 6).

The deceased was identified as Hossen Ali, 70, son of late Ishahak Ali of Tatakpur village of the upazila.

The accident occurred in the area as a pickup van hit him when he was crossing the Dinajpur-Gobindaganj regional highway around 11am this morning, leaving him dead on the spot, office in-charge (OC) of Birampur Police Station Subrata Kumar Sarkar said.

Police recovered the body from the spot and sent it to Dinajpur M. Abdur Rahim Medical College and Hospital for autopsy.

A case was registered in this connection, the OC added.
