NEW YORK: Nisha Desai Biswal, Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs in the United States Department of State, termed the new government of Sheikh Hasina as elected.
She also said the government is elected and US would continue to work with the incumbent government of Bangladesh.
Nisha Desai came up with the assertion in a closed-door meeting with Akramul Qader, ambassador of Bangladesh to the United States, at 10:00am (local time).
After the meeting, Akramul Quader confirmed the matter to banglanews.
Akaramul Quader told banglanews that the US also urged the government to hold talks with the opposition parties. In the meeting, they discussed the Trade and Investment Cooperation Framework Agreement (TICFA).
