The Bangladesh Army has cordoned off a house in Rajshahi’s Kadirganj area after recovering a large cache of weapons and explosive-making materials.

A team from the 40 East Bengal Regiment launched the operation on Saturday morning (August 16), focusing on a coaching centre inside the building known as “Doctor English.”

According to an army source, the raid uncovered two foreign-made air guns, a revolver, live cartridges, three boxes of air gun pellets, locally made weapons, a GPS device, walkie-talkies, binoculars, explosive-making equipment, narcotics, and other items.

No official statement has yet been issued by the military regarding the operation.

Rajshahi Metropolitan Police spokesperson Gaziur Rahman told reporters: “We have not received any official briefing from the army about the raid. If they hand anything over to the police, further details will be provided.”

Intelligence agencies are now investigating the origins of the seized weapons and explosives, as well as identifying those who may have been involved. Security around the area has been tightened, with the building remaining under army control.
