FROM IJTEMA GROUND: Final day of the first phase of Biswa Ijtema, second largest religious congregation for Muslims around the globe, will end through offering Akheri Munajat or final prayer on Sunday.
Sources from the Ijtema ground said that the Akheri Munajat will start at 12:30pm and Maulana Zubairul Hasan from Delhi is likely to conduct the prayer.
Thousands of people from around the country joined the Ijtema and still people are thronging Tongi to join the Ijtema.
All public transports except government vehicles and vehicles for Ijtema related tasks were stopped through Ashulia.
Vehicles also were stopped from Abdullahpur of Dhaka to Chandona intersection on Dhaka-Mymensingh highway.
Some 160 acres area of Ijtema ground has now extended to around 10 km area.
Crème de la crème including President Abdul Hamid, president of Jatiya Party HM Ershad, also special envoy to the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia and cabinet members will join in the Akheri Munajat through special management.
Sources said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina might take part in the Akheri Munajat through video conference.
Besides, some 35,000 foreigners from around 140 countries joined the Ijtema.
Some 15,000 law enforcers were deployed in the Ijtema ground to ensure security of the pilgrims, said police superintendent of Gazipur Abdul Baten PPM.
Special train, bus and launch services were initiated in this connection, reported banglanews correspondent.
Charitable dispensaries were opened in the Ijtema ground area to ensure medication of the devotees.
The second phase of the Ijtema will be held from January 31 to February 2.
