DHAKA: A person died and five others were injured after falling from the roof of a running train at Nakhalpara of Tejgaon area of the city on Saturday night.

The deceased was identified as Abdul Rahim.

Of the injured, critically injured two were sent to National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopaedic Rehabilitation (NITOR) of Agargaon in the city.

Confirming the matter, Assistant Sub-Inspector of GRP Thana Azizul Haque told banglanews that they were going to join in the Biswa Ijtema, second largest religious congregation for Muslims around the globe, in Tongi of Gazipur.

They were travelling on the roof of the train as they did not get any room inside the train, he added.

The body was sent to the morgue of Dhaka Medical College Hospital for autopsy, he added.
