US envoy Brent Neiman arrives in Dhaka

Brent Neiman, the U.S. Assistant Secretary for International Finance, arrived in Dhaka on Saturday (Sept 14) morning to lead a delegation from the United States to discuss bilateral relations issues.

Khandker Masudul Alam, the Director General (North America) at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Dhaka received him at the airport.

Bangladesh anticipates comprehensive discussions as it gears up for its first discussions with a U.S. delegation since the formation of the interim government under Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus on August 8.

The US delegation will meet Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus on Sunday morning. They will also meet Foreign Affairs Adviser Md Touhid Hossain and Finance Adviser Dr Salehuddin Ahmed apart from their other engagement.

Foreign Secretary Jashim will host a working lunch where representatives from the relevant ministries will attend.

US and Bangladeshi officials would discuss how the United States can support Bangladesh’s economic growth, financial stability, and development needs, a spokesperson at the US Department of State said.

Donald Lu, the U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs, who is currently in New Delhi, will also join the US delegation in Bangladesh.
